Real-World Training for Real-World Impact
From the core Body Project to specialized "add-on" curriculum, we prepare counselors, teachers, community leaders and others to lead experiential workshops that change lives—available both in-person and (live) online.
In-Person or Online Training
Whether in-person or (live) online, training is “experiential”, meaning you’ll receive practical, real-world experience leading the workshop. Training also includes best practices for quickly starting workshops and recruiting participants. If you choose to bring more than one Body Project workshop to your school/community (e.g., The Body Project and The EVERYbody Project), you’ll first receive training in the core Body Project curriculum, then additional “add on” training for each adapted workshop, to prepare you to facilitate workshops for each specialized population.
Training Models
Training for Professional-Led Workshops
This 1-full day training occurs in small groups of 6-15 people in order to provide hands-on experience facilitating the workshop’s curriculum. Trainers provide instruction in using the manualized curriculum and individualized feedback to help you learn effective workshop facilitation and implementation skills. Teachers, school counselors, health/mental health professionals, scout leaders and other adults can be trained to facilitate workshops.
MEASURABLE SUCCESS
Up to 4 years after participating in a Body Project workshop, follow-up studies show participants are 54-77% less likely to have developed sub-clinical or clinical-level Eating Disorders.
Training for Peer-Led Workshops
Colleges/universities often choose peer-led Body Project workshops because research studies show this format is more effective compared to professional-led workshops. The peer-led workshop format uses a train-the-trainer model, which creates a sustainable and scalable Body Project program for your campus. During this 2 full-day training, 8-15 students are trained to facilitate the workshops for other students, while 6-8 faculty/staff are simultaneously trained to train future students/peer leaders. Peer-led workshops also provide students with valuable experiences to boost their resumes for jobs, internships, and graduate school.
“Add On” Trainings
Offering more than one Body Project workshop allows you to meet the specific needs of more than one population. “Add On” trainings teach you the curriculum of a second or third workshop through an accelerated training format. For example, if you choose to train in The Body Project and More Than Muscles, you’ll begin by learning the curriculum for The Body Project and practice workshop facilitation and implementation skills during a 1 full day (for “professional led” workshops) or 2 full days (for “peer-led” workshops) training. Then, in a separate half-day training, you’ll learn the curriculum for More Than Muscles and the specific facilitation and implementation skills for that workshop. Half-day “Add On” trainings are available for each additional workshop you wish to offer, and can be provided in-person or (live) online.
